Can I Download the SF Platform? Thx I'm new...

Hi,

I am a new ISV, in pre-development stages.

When I spoke with the SF execs, they told me (or so I understood) that as a Developer Partner I will be able to download the SF platform, as if I were a user.

The reason I need the platform is because before I develop the App, i need to well understand the working environment in which it will work.

Pls advise if I can download the SF platform and how?

Thank you for your help!

Daniel

Daniel,

The Force.com platform is a public Platform as a Service (PaaS). There is no downloading it. It's always on and always available in the cloud.

What you can do is to create a free Developer Edition of Salesforce which gives you access to what you mention below. It is a public, in the cloud instance so there is nothing to download and no local components or setup and instalation requried. It's also free (as in free beer) for you to use forever.

If I could offer some advice, I think you would be better off starting here http://developer.force.com/gettingstarted and get a good overview and solid foundation of the basics. Also make http://developer.force.com/ your new best friend. There is a wealth of information out there for beginners and veterans alike. Good luck and happy hacking!

Ryan,

I started reading the instructions, and they are focused, naturally, on building the app itself.

Before I go there (don't worry, i'll take experts), I am interested in building a "regular" saleforce platform (online, I got that), like a regular user.

Can you help me do that?

Thx, Daniel
