Workflow to send email on add of new contact

I think I'm forgetting something really basic and its driving me nuts. I have a developers copy of SFDC running. New no changes to it yet so I figure I forgot to enable something.

I created a workflow action to send an email, I created the template, and I created the rule that says when a new contact with First Name = "Bob" gets added that it should send an email. This was to be a quick demonstration. But it's not working. Suggestions?

Did you activate the workflow rule?  That's the step that I most often forget.  :smileywink:

You know, it's one of those days. Yup, I forgot to activate it.
