Document Scan and Upload

hi,
I am a newbie when it comes to SalesForce. Can anyone give me an idea how to implement the following functionality.
On click of a single button, a document will be scanned and then the scanned document will be uploaded.

scanning is a local computer feature not a browser feature.
you would scan to a file, then upload that file as an attachment to a salesforce object.
you could also email it to salesforce using email services in Apex.
