Set up a communities user and a sharing set Challenge

I am completely lost and confused on this challenge and I dont know how to fix it. Every time I try to add Edna Frank as an external user it says "An account owner must be associated with a role to enable portal users or transfer portal users to his or her account." Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

In this challenge, you set up the external sharing model, create a sharing set, and create a customer community user. First, set up the external sharing model with Case set to private. Then, enable Customer Portal settings, and create a sharing set titled Share cases with customers for the Customer Community User Profile. In this sharing set, grant customer community users read and write access to the case object for all cases associated with their account.
Ensure that your DE org user has a role assigned.
Create a customer community user from Edna Frank's contact record. (Your DE org should already have a contact record for Edna Frank. If it doesn't, create a new contact with first name Edna and last name Frank.)
Ensure that the account associated with Edna Frank has cases associated with it.
Ensure that sharing set mapping is set to User:Account = Case:Account.

Thanks for the help Edwin but that wasnt the problem. I had to add my user account to a role by going to Manager Users then Roles then click assign. That let me add her as a user. Now I just have to figure out hoe to do the share set.

Hello everyone,

I'm having the same problem as Avinash on Step 2, where I try to search for "Customer Portal Settings" in the Quick Find box but nothing is coming up. I've already assigned myself a role within users. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hello Everyone,

I have the following error:

The Sharing Set is not setup with proper Case access. Please check the requirements.

I have managed to enable the contact as community user account, enabled the community itself in Setup, prepared it, but the problem is with the Sharing Set. When I am trying to set it, and select Case and hit save I have the message That I do not have access to this object. Even though, it lets me save it, but still the Access Granted section is empty.

I am also not sure how to make

"Ensure that sharing set mapping is set to User:Account = Case:Account." This step.

Could someone help ?

Thank you in advance

Hi Roman, I had this same issue. I was trying to complete the challenge in lightning, but it wasn't working. I switched to Classic and I was able to set the sharing mapping properly.

My solution is simple: CHange your session to "Classic" and it will work with the steps indicated in the challenge.

Hi

I hope I'm not repeating a question that's already been asked - I can't see the same issue in this discussion.

I am on the same module, but just following along with the instructions, prior to doing the actual challenge. I'm trying to set up the sharing sets, and get stuck at step 7, where I just get a blank dialog box when I click on the 'setup' link in the Configure Access area:
Screenshot1:

Screenshot two:

Is it something that I've done wrong? I've gone over the previous steps, but can't see what the issue might be.

Thanks!

@Avinash Patel 4 Do you have to switch to classic mode and looking for it on the Quick box from Setup.

Hello, i have the same issue than AO, do someone know how can i do please? it's been a lot of hours since i'm working on it, but nothing works....
Raphael MoralyRaphael Moraly
Hi Everyone,
Customer Community User profile doesn't show up in Sharing Set Profiles...
Do you know where does that come from?
I have done the following
1)Sharing Settings-Enable External Sharing Model-Organization-Wide Defaults area-Cases(Private)
2)selected Customer Portal Settings-Enable Customer Portal
3)Customer Portal Settings-New Sharing Sets-
   Label-Share cases with customers
   Sharing Set Name-Share_cases_with_customers

But then I'm supposed to click Customer Community User in the Sharing Set Profiles, but it doesn't appear... I can only select Login User or Portal User but this doesn't seem to work either.

Many ThanksUser-added image

I am having the same experience as Raphael... the 'Customer Community User' profile is not in the list of Available profiles. How do we get the 'Customer Community Profile' to show up in that list?
Janet EpebinuJanet Epebinu
Hi Martin,
To complete the challenge, switched to classic as suggested above.
You can try the steps below:
1) From setup, type sharing settings in the Quick Find box, click on Sharing Settings-Enable External Sharing Model-Organization-Wide Defaults, for the Cases dropdown, select Private
2) From the Quick Find box, type Communities, Click on Communities Settings, Enable Communities, Enter a unique name in the box (e.g. your first name)  and click check availability, then click Save.
3) On the Quick Find box, enter Customer Portal Settings, select Customer Portal Settings - Enable Customer Portal
4)Communities Settings - Sharing Sets- New
For the Label- Share cases with customers
   For the  Name- Share_cases_with_customers
   Select Profiles-Customer Community User
   Select Objects-User-Case
5)Click Set Up -Configure Access-User:Account
    Target Case - Account
     Access Level- Read/Write
6)If you use Trailhead Playground, you don't need to create a new contact because Frank, Edna is a contact with Account name Genepoint
7)Go to Edna Frank detail page- click on Manage external User button - Enable Customer User -
For User License, select Customer Community
   Profile: Customer Community User
 Email: your email address
Click Save.
If there is no error, check the challenge.
8) If there is an error message about the Portal user not having a role-
from setup, enter users-click on Users - assign yourself a user name-role-CEO, CFO, COO etc
Click Save
