field service lightning app extensions

We have field service lightning, ( go live sometime this month). We need to ( in mobile )  let users put in time entries  without a related work order ( through a button) . can't find a way to do this,     was wondering about the app extensions in FSL,  what do they do, examples?  Use case?   we might be able to use this to reach out to other objects and do other processes not available in the FSL app right now.

Hi Ben,

App Extensions are basically to deep link another native iOS from FSL. For example, if you require to open google maps from a service appointment, app extensions are useful. So that, whenever Field Tech clicks on an action on the service appointment, FSL will open google search. (Just imagine how safari/yelp opens google maps the moment you click on "Directions", it is the same way you can open another native iOS app from FSL when you click on app extension). Hope this helps to know what app extension is for. I am not sure if this is useful for your sitatuation.

THanks,
True.
