Duplicate contact records created when user registers to through community self registration
Hi,
Every time a user registers through our community self registration a new contact in created. If we have a same email address already present in the system we would like to link the newly registered user to the existing contact . Can someone suggest how to resolve this ?
I have tried modifying the default controller but no luck. can we achieve this by modifying default self registration controller ?
Thanks in Advance,

- When a User uses self-registration on a Community and enters information that is then used to create the Contact.
- That new contact record is not being identified as duplicate if another contact exists that contain criteria that meet a Matching Rule tied to an active Duplicate rule.
- ResolutionThis is working as designed due to the fact that Contact records created via Community Self Registration use Quick Create to generate the record.
- Quick Create is one of the reasons that Duplicate Management will not work. To learn more, please review Manage Duplicate Records.
