Received the following error: Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong:
There was an unexpected error while verifying this challenge. Usually this is due to some pre-existing configuration or code in the challenge Org. Anything to do to fix? I would hate to have to recreate the reports and dashboards again...

Just try switching from lighting to classic or vice versa. It worked for me in one of the other badges.
