Idea: Email Attachments should be saved to Salesforce:  its only possible to save email attachments within Salesforce by using the Outlook plugin OR doing manually from within salesforce.

This would eliminate a fair amount of duplication of effort (ie. uploading the attachment in the e-mail, and then uploading it AGAIN to the object - case, opportunity, account, etc)

You need to pay perhaps: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N30000009wGaqEAE
... and it is not the panacea ( "App is broken and vendor is a ghost" )

This one is free, Send an Email Plus (Free): https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N3000000B5kQJEAZ
(2014 and the installation failed now).

Or you build a Visualforce page + controller (instead of a free ready-to-use app). That was our solution.
