cmake pickupList field read-only when i create a new record in custom Object

I would like to make pickupList field read-only ....I already tried  to  make iread only in paygeLayOut and field level security..... but still I cant do it...

Can anyone help this ?

You have to access the custom Object's fields and create a new field. There you can choose a field of pick-list type and set the values to it.

Thats not I meant.... I already finished creating pickupList. But i dont know how to  make it read-only on the new creating record page in custom object.
