lightning integration of salesforce to salesforce instances

I am looking to integrate several objects between two Salesforce instances.  The solutions for S2S that I have seen are all centered on classic.  Any suggestions to get going?

First thing to consider here should be Salesforce connect, there is Salesforce connect adapter to connect 2 salesforce org.
