can we override a standard method like save/new

Hi Heena, 
New Buttion: Yes you can override the default new button with your custom VF page.
Save Button: If your save button is on the standard layout page then you cannot override the functionality of the save button. But if your save button is on a custom VF page then in that case you can definitely override the standard functionality.
