This question is too broad to answer.

There are a number of different APIs that developers can use to integrate with a Salesforce organization. But sometimes it’s difficult to know what each API is for and when to use it.

To know more about Salesforce APIs – What They Are & When to Use Them I would suggest you please refer to below link. Also, I would recommend you to please go through the trailhead module which will give you a better understanding of Salesforce API's. Hope this helps.
