error in trail? Visualize Your Data with the Lightning Dashboard Builder

trying to finish the admin beginner trail, but in the module 'Lightning Experience Reports & Dashboards' and then 4.) 'Visualize Your Data with the Lightning Dashboard Builder'

I've done everything that is asked but it doesn't want to clear and I get the error:

"Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong:
Could not find a component in the 'Big Deals' dashboard with the title 'Opportunity Stages'."

This is a pretty straightforward exercise, so yes I'm in my personal dev org, and yes I have a Big Deals dashboard with the right 'Opportunity Stages' component (right name, donut chart, everything just how it should be,

any ideas on how to clear this trail?

greets

Jurn

Faced similar problems...
But then worked for me !

1. Use lightning
2. Try switching between accounts and doing the same
3. Follow the details of the report (title etc)
4. Refresh the dasboard on lightning.

This should work !
Happy trailing ! :D

I'm getting the same error and haven't been able to get past it. Does anyone else have an idea? Is there someone from Salesforce that can respond?
Chris DuarteChris Duarte
There are no issues with this challenge. I just did it now in a Trailhead Playground and it's working fine.

Just to list out all the steps, which we've writen in the order you have to do them:

Make sure you're in Lightning Experience.

1. Click the Reports tab
2. Choose Opportunities as the report type
3. Update the Range to All Time
4. Click Tabular and select Summary
5. Drag and drop the Stage field into the grouping area
6. Make sure the fields Opportunity Name and Opportunity Owner are columns in the report
7. Save the report in any folder as the name Opportunity Stages
8. Click the Dashboards tab
9. Click New
10. Create a dashboard with the name Big Deals
11. Save the dashboard in any folder
12. Add a component and select report Opportunity Stages
13. Change the component type to Donut Chart
14. Verify the title of the component is Opportunity Stages
15. Save and refresh the dashboard at least once

Check the Reports and Dashboards tabs and make sure you don't have duplicate reports or dashboards with these names. If you do, you need to rename the ones you don't want Trailhead to check. Make sure you have just 1 report named Opporutnity Stages and 1 dashboard named Big Deals.

@Sai I can tell from your screenshot that you're not doing this in Lightning Experience.
Kyle Morton (Trailhead)Kyle Morton (Trailhead)
I received this error in my personal org, found this thread, followed @Chris' directions and still received the error. I followed the same actions in a Playground and reached success.
Vikram MehendaleVikram Mehendale
Hi. Something is spooky on this trail. I have the same experience as Kyle Morton. Really wondering what can be wrong. Same set of steps on DE and playground. One place it says ok other place not ok.
AOAO
try refreshing the dashboards; if that does not work refresh the whole Salesforce page and create another report and dashboard redo the challlengue and save it as Opportunity Stages1
John Cabrera 14John Cabrera 14
I had to switch from my DE to a Playground to get this to work too, but it did finally work.
Maria VivianiMaria Viviani
I'm only working in playground and still getting the same error:

Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong:
Could not find a component in the 'Big Deals' dashboard with the title 'Opportunity Stages'.

I am working in Lightning and deleted all repots and dashboards that had the same names as the one required by the challenge.

I already tried with the solutions suggested by two another thread (https://developer.salesforce.com/forums?id=9060G000000BgsRQAS) but I am still getting the same error.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

Maria

I'm in Trailhead Playgound and followed these instructions to the T.

Create an opportunities report and add it to a dashboard
Lincoln Ulrich, the top salesperson at Ursa Major Solar, wants a dashboard that shows all the company’s deals, so he can quickly see how many opportunities his team has at each stage of the pipeline. Create the underlying opportunities report, then create a dashboard and add a component that displays the report as a donut chart.
Create a report named Opportunity Stages with the report type Opportunities and a report format of Summary
Set the range to All Time, include the fields Opportunity Name and Opportunity Owner, and group by Stage
Save the report in any folder
Create a dashboard with the name Big Deals
Save the dashboard in any folder
Add a component and select report Opportunity Stages
Ensure that the title of the component is Opportunity Stages
Display as Donut Chart
Save and refresh the dashboard at least once

Challenge Not yet complete... here's what's wrong:
Could not find a component in the 'Big Deals' dashboard with the title 'Opportunity Stages'.
Mars Rover 804Mars Rover 804
Fixed it - if you do it in classic it maps the title to the "subtitle" so as the instructions state - do it ALL in Lightning!  Follow this and make sure the title is in fact in title and not subtitle and it worked.

Make sure you're in Lightning Experience.

1. Click the Reports tab
2. Choose Opportunities as the report type
3. Update the Range to All Time
4. Click Tabular and select Summary
5. Drag and drop the Stage field into the grouping area
6. Make sure the fields Opportunity Name and Opportunity Owner are columns in the report
7. Save the report in any folder as the name Opportunity Stages
8. Click the Dashboards tab
9. Click New
10. Create a dashboard with the name Big Deals
11. Save the dashboard in any folder
12. Add a component and select report Opportunity Stages
13. Change the component type to Donut Chart
14. Verify the title of the component is Opportunity Stages
15. Save and refresh the dashboard at least once

I had the same problem (over and over again)...  When I finally clicked on "Dashboards" "Created by Me," I found four instances of the Big Deals Dashboard, three of which had no component added.  I deleted all four instances and started from scratch creating the Dashboard and adding the Opportunity Stages component...  BINGO!  It worked....
Dolline WillisDolline Willis
I was having the same issue with it not accepting it when I did it correctly. I finally got it to work today. Here is what I did:
1) Used a different Trailhead Playground
2) When creating the report, I did not remove any fields. Previously I had made the report smaller to only have the required columns
3) Ensured it was in a summary format with the grouping by stage
4) Created the dashboard as instructed and refreshed.

Hope this may help someone else get their issue resolved.

Mine threw that error, but I'd made the dashboard in Classic.  I had to go back and remake my dashboard in Lightning, and then it worked.
Erin DuncanErin Duncan
Dolline's steps above worked for me. I think the big difference was not removing any fields in the report, even though the directions tell you to.

I had the same issue as Kathy.  I am guessing that it happened when i kept getting an error that i didn't have an internet connection and then i finally worked.  Very buggy.

I too faced the same error. But I followed the steps mentioned by @chris Duarte in Lightning Experience. Then the challenge got completed.

I hope this will help someone.

@Kathy Pourmehr 11, you are a genius, did exactly what you mention, I had 2 intances delete both and recreate it, it works! You are a life saver! Thank you so much! :)

Components created in Salesforce classic will not be visible in Lightening, unless explicitly switched to lightening mode and saved again. I got the same issue and resolved it by switching it to lightening mode, dropping the component and recreating, finally saving

You should perform every step in lightning experience , this is not working because you have created dashboard in salesforce classic.
try doing everything in salesforce lightning experience.

Solution :

Most of you are using Classic view to create dashboards which are causing this error. Please delete the dashboards and try creating the same in lightning. It'll look like this. Please vote if found helpfull

Unable to complete challenge in because there is no 'legacy table' option for the dashboard component. Only choice of table is 'lightning table' and when I use, it doesn't allow me to sort with rows--only columns. Then getting error that I don't have a table in my global sales dashboards dashboard. I'm doing challenge in lightning.

Chris Duarte's steps worked for me.

Solved my issue by performing this is a trailhead playground.
This works only when doing on the lightning interface and not on salesforce classic
Note: Do not switch to Classic and then do everything on Lighting. This should work.

15. Save and refresh the dashboard at least once

I've only been at this two weeks. If anyone can give offer screen shots, for 4-8, that would be really helpful. I would prefer not to give up the module which is the last badge on my Admin Beginner trail, but I could have done two modules in the time I've spent on this.

Why Trailhead has so much bugs? The issue is from 2017, yet the same error occurring in 2021.

We can't find a dashboard named 'Big Deals'.

User 2 playgrounds, followed everything step by step and still no luch with "Create an opportunities report and add it to a dashboard":
