Mass delete Contact records using Group Edition

I need to delete 1200+ duplicate contact records from my Salesforce instance.  Why is the Data Loader unavailable?  That said, what is the best way to complete this request?

Hi,
Have you identified the duplicate records? (Usually its by email id)
If so, you can perform a Mass delete, you won't need data loader.
Setup > Mass delete > Contacts.
You would have to prepare the csv file with Record id to be deleted, and you can go ahead.

If you need help identifying duplicate records, I am sure there are some free apps in appexchange to help with it.
