Can Salesforce be a place to store data

Hi,
In the event that a Company doesn't have a Data Warehouse, can Salesforce be used to store data? Bascally, I would like to pull all the datas from my website to Salesforce in order to build a strong marketing performance strategy and customer retention strategy.

I would appreciate if anyone could clarify the pros/cons, risk or advantages of doing this?

Thanks.

Hi Vin,

In Salesforce There is document and content section where you can store file or document and also can separate these in a folder.
You can also share that content or folder with others Hope it will be helpful.

Please mark it as best answer if the information is informative.so that question is removed from an unanswered question and appear as a proper solution.

Thanks

Vin,

First and foremost Salesforce's strength lies in the CRM space and it is not a typical BI Data Warehouse . Salesforce has a matured offering in the CRM space - pre sales (Marketing Cloud), sales (Sales Cloud) and post sales (Service Cloud). alogn with a robust cloud based development platform Force.com for customization standard apps and building custom apps and deploying them in the cloud without worrying about their infrastructure.

However, Salesforce provides an offering of Database.com which provides a relational data storage on the Salesforce Platform or use Platform Licenses to dump data within custom object in Salesforce, which would hold relevance in your case. If you only plan to leverage this for storing the data it would not be the best use of it considering the following aspects
  • Data storage on Salesforce is relatively expensive and if you are looking for a cloud based relational data storage you could definitely find cheaper options. Also there is a limit on the total data storage which is based the Salesforce Edition and the number and type of licenses you for your organization.
  • Moreover, in order to store data within Salesforce you would be required to perform web servcie callouts and Salesforce has limits it to 100,000 calls per 24 hours. So if you have a business which has high data volume, you could easily hit this limit though this can be increased to a certain extent.
But, if you intend to store this data and use this to execute your marketing campaigns which drive the leads through a prospecting funnel backed up by analytics, reports then you would be able to leverage the true power and capability of Salesforce. Also, Salesforce provides WAVE termed as the Analytics Cloud which is an offering targeted towards the BI space.

Analytics Cloud requires separate licenses and directly connects to your Salesforce data and helps you generate anaytics with a clean and easy to use interface to identify and periodic trends. Morevoer, the Analytics Cloud dashboards can be inegrated seamlessly with your existing Salesforce applications thereby enabling you to leverage the power of other apps within the Salesforce ecosystem.

Yes, we can store the data in Salesforce (http://www.mannyats.com/) . Storage is divided into two categories File storage and Data storage.
