A story about a Basic Wave Trailhead and my signup problems.

I'm sure I'm doing it wrong and I admit to not having much experiance with Trailhead. But let me tell you my story...

In the Trailhead Start Exploring Wave Analytics it says to go get a "special Developer Edition" located here:  https://developer.salesforce.com/promotions/orgs/wave-de

When I filled out the form, I used my @salesforce.com email address, which I use for my Trailheads,  and a bogus email address for the username based on: "Your username must also look like an email address and be unique, but it doesn’t need to be a valid email account."

After registering, I get an email in my @salesforce.com inbox that says:
"Sorry, we can't enroll you in a Salesforce Developer Edition account because the email address you entered is already in use. To sign up with a different email address, go to https://developer.salesforce.com/form/signup/freetrial.jsp ."
So thats one problem.  It sends the user to a different signup page then where they need to be.   It should have directed the user back to: https://developer.salesforce.com/promotions/orgs/wave-de

On my second attempt. I used my personal email address but I used my @salesforce.com email address as my username.  In the email I recieved in my personal email address, it asked me to verify my account and to change my password and it logged me in.  But then when I logged out and then tried to log back in, to that same address from the email: https://login.salesforce.com, it doesn't accept the password I used when I verified my account.  But it does take my Salesforce password and logs me into Org62. This is where my @salesforce.com username should not have been accepted during the signup phase.

On my 3rd attempt. I used my same personal email and a bogus email address for my username. This time, I did not get the email saying: "Sorry...the email address you entered is already in use..."    But I was able to login'n out and everything seems fine.  I go back to the Trailhead steps and finally figured out how to add the new playground i created (I assume that is taught in a earlier Trail that I missed) and I now seem to be on my way.

Quesitons:
  1. If a username is already in use, then should it be accepted?
  2. It seems if we need the customer to add the new playground to their Trailhead, it should just be one of the steps in getting it set up.  Not in the Hands-on Challenge.
  3. If the user is already logged into Trailhead, we already have their info.  Why make them go through a whole other sign up process just to do a Trailhead?  We know what they need, why not just give them a launch button and we take care of the rest on the back end? Similar to a JIT SSO button that we use in house.
Thanks
