Custome User Fields in SalesForce as Used for Automated Approval Routing

How to create Custome User Fields in SalesForce as Used for Automated Approval Routing.
I have created custom field with a lookup to User but unable to get the custom user field in approval process.
Please advise.

Vishal, does the User account through which, you are trying to create the Approval process have the necessary Field Level permissions to access the field?

Also, one of the things to check is are you building the Approval Process for the same object, for which you have added the custom Lookup field to User?

Thank you for response.
Yes, I created the user under System admin profle and it is permissions to access the field "discount" under opportunity object but I unable to create Custome User Fields"Discount Approver" in SalesForce as Used for Automated Approval Routing.
Please let me know where I am missing..
