what is use of the annotation @AuraEnabled

The @AuraEnabled keyword exposes an Apex method to the Aura framework for use in Lightning Components. If you're asking why Salesforce doesn't just automatically expose all methods, I'm not quite sure. Possibly due to performance concerns.
