I am too new I tried it using process builder I am stuck please help.

Create a custom field on the Account object.
Whenever this field is populated with some value
a contact object record should be created and needs
to be linked to account object record.

Hi Joe,

try with the below steps : - 

1. Create process builder on Account Object.

2. In Condtion, set your custom field as shown below (here I am using Industry field for demo purpose) :-

3. And in Action, set it as shown below :- 
User-added image You can set Last name as per your requirement. 

This will not only create the contact but also it will link the contact to account which is getting updated.
