Salesforce and Plugin Security Hardening

Are there references addressing the use of Salesforce and vendor tools, (in this instance, VS Code and Salesforce CLI Plug-in) regarding system guidelines for Security hardening and any risks to be mitigated before bring these tools into an environment?

Visual Studio Code uses Salesforce CLI as a command-line tool. Note that Salesforce CLI is a powerful command-line interface built by salesforce that simplifies development and build automation when working with your Salesforce org and it has high-security standards

There isn't any documentation on guidelines for security hardening as far as I know

Salesforce recommends using Visual Studio Code for development
