Scratch Org From Sandbox

I feel like this is a very basic question, but I can't find an answer that has satisfied me. Is it possible to create a scratch org from a sandbox? Or, do I create the scratch org from production and the push code to a sandbox?

Simple answer is no .. enable dev hub in prod from there connect to SB
