How to make sure Public group never gets archived?

I had a public group which is now showing as archived whenever I try to share a file with it. I have searched for a solution but there is no option for arcive checkbox in in the public group setting. I see it in the page layout setting but it is still not available. My concern is that if I create a new group it should not get archived down the line.

I found that group archiving is a feature enabled by default however accoring to the blow article I see that you can disable it such that groups don't archive, please find the link below:

It is not a chatter group, it is a public group. Public group is in setup. Setup - Groups - Public Group, and there is no option for archiving there. Anyway I went through the Salesforce documentation about this, and it seems that Salesforce files/ attachments cannot be shared with Public groups created from setup. You can only share files sith Chatter groups. Thank you for your time everyone.
