Guys I have joined a startup coming which is asking me to learn Salesforce and start working on it. As I have learned Java and have also worked in a small firm for 1 year on Java. Salesforce is doing good in the CRM Space now and in the next five years, it will continue to be on the top as per the predictions and ongoing customers count for Salesforce.
In the long run, there is no guarantee of any technology because of innovation in every domain, so we cannot predict the future. I recommend learning both Java and salesforce.
Apex code in the salesforce is almost similar to Java and you need to learn administration for automating the process. It is always good to have knowledge of one object-oriented language and packaged application like Salesforce. In the future, if you get an opportunity to learn something new you can definitely apply this knowledge.
