search layout on task

Hi Folks,

Is there a way to add new search layout for tasks? I have to add the status field to the search layout for Tasks and I don't see any search layouts for Tasks. I added it to the activity search layout but that did not change anything on tasks.

Hi Nidhi,
The search layouts are not available for task object in classic but when we switch to lightning, we can find it.

Platform Tools > Objects and Fields > Object Manager > Activity > Search Layouts > Drop Down on List View > Edit

From there, edit the search layout according to your requirement.

Thanks Japleen for the reply.

I did make the changes to the search layout on activity but that does not work in lightning.

Hi Japleen,

The org I'm working on is updated to Winter'19 and the release notes https://releasenotes.docs.salesforce.com/en-us/winter19/release-notes/search_results_setup_lex.htm do specify that "You can filter search results for accounts, cases, contacts, dashboards, files, Knowledge articles, leads, notes, opportunities, people, and tasks, and for custom objects". The problem is when I look for search results layout under Tasks I don't see any search results layout. Do I need to switch on some settings?

Hi Nidhi,
Was this ever resolved for you ?

I am experiencing the same, not able to change the search layout for Tasks - updates took effect in Classic, but cannot be seen in Lightning
