How to build Force.com IDE

Hello,

I'm using the eclipse force.com plugin. Current version is 33.0.
It looks like this plugin isn't supported anymore, but now it is open source.

How can i build the source code and install the result as a plugin?

The documentation is a little difficult to find but it seems like you can follow the steps in the wiki [1] or by looking at Peter's blog [2].  You can also download the beta versions here [3] (not sure what version of the API it uses)
