In the Winter 16 release, is it now possible to trigger process builder or workflows from LightningConnect external objects?

Hi,

As far as I know external objects don't support triggers. It's said in the documentation: https://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewHelpDoc?id=limits_external_data.htm&language=en_US

Here is a related idea you can vote: https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000lAfZAAU

As the documentation says, they don't support workflow or process builder either.

Best regards

Yes Rachel. External object will function like an normal custom object from Winter'16 update. You can able to write trigger and other options which are supported by custom object is applicable to the external object as well. Check this release note update

Thanks for the information.  The release notes mention that you can "do anything with an external object that can be done with an internal object" but the specific information given is about inserting or updating records in the external object.  Is there anything that explicitly states that we can launch a Process Builder or Workflow when a new record is inserted into an external object?
