PHP and Python Versions currently being developed
Greetings,
The developers at Solutionstap have begun work on both PHP and Python versions of a sForce API abstraction layers. Current support is for XML-RPC, and unlike some other alternatives there will be cookie, compression, HTTP header addition and UNICODE support along with other features. Our first release will be in the coming days, and both libraries will be released under the BSD Open Source license.
For further information on Solutionstap visit http://www.solutionstap.com/, we have already implemented an open source based SF integration solution for a client (www.ltp.com).
Regards,
Nik Cubrilovic

Thats great news Nik; keep us posted as to when it is available, as I know many folks will be interested in what are you building.
Hi,
Any progress on this? Python support for SOAP with compression is much needed. Do you have a link to some partial implementation?
Best,
