Send Alert to Opportunity:Contact Roles based on Workflow rule

Hi,
I am fairly new to Salesforce.com.
I am trying to setup a Workflow that sends an email alert to certain "Contact Roles" within a Opportunity.
The option to select either Contacts or Contact Roles when I try to create the Alert, is not available on the dropdown list.
 
Any help is appreciated.

you can add a sales team to the opportunity and add sales team roles ( similar to your contact roles ) . this will solve your problem, if still facing problem then you can contact me for help in setting up this rule.
