keep custom objects out of Recent Items list?

Is there any way to keep records of a particular custom object out of the recent items list?
I thought getting rid of the object's tab might do the trick, but it didn't.

Thanks!

No - MRU list is controllable via the API, but not via the UI.  You can't exclude an object or tab from the MRU (most recently used items).

OK, thanks for clearing that up, Adam.

I realize that this is an old thread, but I had the same issue (keeping custom objects out of the "Recent Items" list) and I created post http://community.salesforce.com/sforce/board/message?board.id=general_development&message.id=35551 for this problem.

I have done some local testing and have verified that removing the custom object tab does indeed prevent the custom object from going into the 'Recent Items'.

However, I am searching for an alternate solution since my managed package is in the 'Released' state and custom objects tabs cannot be deleted once released.
