WIL - insert (description) name not ID from a lookup field

hi all,

i'm trying to clone an entire page which has lookup fields in it.

How do i specify it inside the WIL as you cannot use the description name of the record.
ie. i thought it would of been the ID of that record whoever, it just inserts the raw id (15-18 char) into the field.

ie. populate Account which it refers to into a new record which has (ID, AcctName)
As the AcctName is what is friendly to us. the system requires an ID (in case of duplicate AcctNames)

How do i accomplish this through a WIL?

I may not be the brightest or the fastest crayon in the box but it sounds like you create a custom object and you would like to be able to convert or populate that information that is on that record to another record with in salesforce.com. If this is what you are trying to do all you will need to do is to create a custom link to do your bid.

that is exactly what i am trying to do..  a custom link or Web Link.

i'm trying to pre-populate a lookup field. (or field from another record in SF)

can this be done in a WIL/ custom link as my S-Control skills are..... zip!
