Triggers on Contact, to be fired when Account is deleted

Hi community,

 

I wonder why my trigger on Contact/delete is not fired when I delete the Account that holds the Contact.

 

Is my assumption wrong?

 

Is there any way to enable this or do I have to write a trigger for Account/delete?

Sorry for pushing... But it really bothers me.

 

Is my assumption wrong that the contact delete trigger should be fired when the contact is deleted because of the account deletion?
