Can't login to Sandbox from Data Loader or Force Eclipse IDE

I have a sandbox on a production system that I've been able to successfully use with the Apex Data Loader and the Eclipse Force IDE for several months.

Today, I can no longer login to my sandbox account with either tool.  I reset my security token, but I still cannot login.  I am able to login to the production system without problems with these tools.  I can also login to the sandbox from the Browser without problems.

Please help!

Thanks,

Dave

Have you cheked the server host setting in Data Loader?  To use Data Loader with our sandbox I have to change that to "http://test.salesforce.com".

Make sure that is https://test.salesforce.com

Even with https://test.salesforce.com as the Server Host URL in the Settings; I just can't log in the sandbox, always the same error message 'Failed to send request to https://test.salesforce.com...

This is soooo aggravating, does anyone else have the same issue?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

My problem was solved when I noticed that my sandbox (https://tapp0.salesforce.com) was on a completely different server than my production org (https://na5.salesforce.com).

Log into the sandbox and copy the first part of the URL from any record in that sandbox.  Paste that as the Server Host URL in your program.

This was very helpful, thank you

This may be obvious to most but it was my sticking point: you have to enter the password with the API security token on the end. Hope this helps others like me!

I'm sorry, maybe this is a silly quesiton ...how do you access the settings in order to change the URL?

Typing in the steps to be able use Data Loader in Sandbox, as I found it a bit difficult myself to understand the above answers.

1. Open up Data Loader

2. Look for the tab named Settings in the navigation menu (you may need to click down the first Data Loader window to see it)

3. Change the 4th field named Server Host (clear for default) to the https://test.salesforce.com

4. Log in with your Sandbox credentials and password (do not use the security token at all)

5. You should now be able to use the Data Loader to import/export!
