Grabbing unique ID's with the sforce data loader

Does anyone know where I can find sample code on how to pull the unique sf.com ID from an account, contact, or lead to complete our automatic updating? We are trying to automate our data loading process, but we would like to see how other people have coded this part. I am open to seeing any examples anyone has at this point.

Yep, we are trying to do the same thing.

We want to automate our upadtes and the salesforceid is required by the dataloader, and we don't store the salesforceid on our internal syatems.

I'd be very interestyed to know if you discovered how to get around this.

I have a developer working on this right now. I will share my findings with you when he tackles this issue.

The upsert call coming in the Winter release may help you. Let's you match on an "external" id, eg the one you store as the master id.
