Need variable event stop times

I'd like to add a drop-down list to let the user select their time for events (15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 1:30 minutes etc.) instead of manually adding a start time and an end time each time.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Start Time and End Time are the required fields for multi days events and can not be removed or hide from the pagelayout. If you don't need multiday event then there is an option.  Go to Setup | Customize | Activities | Activity Settings. Uncheck "Enable Multiday Events" checkbox and submit the changes. Now try creating an event, you will see a duration field on the page and from where you can enter event duration as desired by you.
