Possible to access generated repot via the API?

We have a report that is generated in Salesforce and would like to know if it is possible to access or download the report via the API?

I doubt it, but I thought that I would ask anyway

Unfortunately, not at this time.  A potential workaround would be to use a report to create an analytic snapshot in a custom object, and then access that through the API - if the report is a standard report retrieving no more than 2K records.
