field in account that shows "true" if at least one contact has true value
Hi,
I was aking support:
"how can I define a field in account that shows "true" if at least one contact of this account has a certain value in an attribute?"
Answer was:
"This cannot be done due to the master child relationship between accounts and contacts."
In a programming language I would iterate over each child (contact) and set a boolean variable to true if the first contacts boolean variable is true. This is a pretty simple task and I am wondering why this is not possible.
If there qould be e.g. a Rollup Summary for to contacts-leads this would be a solution. It is not.
Does anyone have a comment for me?
Greetings
Sabine
I think it can be achived.
Please try the following:-
You have master detail relationship between account and contact.
1. Create a summary field of type count - say named - IsContactSetCount on account based on contact,
2. The summary field should have a filter (say when a certain field of contact has a certain value )
3. Then create a formula field of type text which say is set to true if the value of the field "IsContactSetCount" is greater than one.
Did this answer your question? if so, please mark it solved.
I dont see why you cant use a rollup summary field. Use a number formula field on Contact which is set to 1 if your attribute is true 0 otherwise
then use max on your rollup summary field on Account
Hi Kickingboy,
thang you for the answer.
This is what I want to do but when I create a rollup summary in account,
in step 3 "Define the summary calculation"
for the summarized object I can not select "Contact" (it is not listed in the combobox)
In the combobox "Summarized Object" I see only my custom object types.
What is to do for seeing "contact" in the combobox?
Greetings
Sabine
Sorry You are right. Although there is a master detail relationship between Account and Contact it does not facilitate rollup summary fields which is strange. I think you will have to resort to Apex.
