ERROR:Data Uniqueness Violation

Data Uniqueness Violation

The proposed data changes would violate a uniqueness constraint.

I'm getting above error when i trying to clone the approval process and adding  the steps....

Hi San K,

I ran into this same problem and was not sure how to fix it or why this happened.

As a quick fix, I deactivated my approval process and deleted the approval step that I wanted to change. When I created the step, I did not come across the error message.

This may not be the best fix, but it helped me avoid having to create the entire approval process again.

Recreating the step worked for me.  Nice workaround!

For some reason, I get this exact error now when simply trying to create a new article type with article manager application.  Anyone know why this would be?  I WAS able to do this until a few days ago.

FYI:

To resolve this error, modify the approval step twice:

In the first edition, temporarily change the "plus" statement of the step criteria to a different value than the one you want. Be sure to save this temporary change.

In the second edition, change both the criteria statement of the "plus" step and the rejection behavior of the approval step to the values you want. Important: Do not click Save for this edition until you have changed both of these two settings.

* Detailed steps, from the details page of the approval process:
Click Edit next to the approval stage.
Click Next on the page to enter the Name and Description.

On the page to Specify the criteria of the Step:
Find the field "Enter this step if the next ...".
After "something else", select a different value than what you want.
Click Next.

Click Save on the page to select the Assigned Approver. Important: Do not change the rejection behavior, yet. He will do it in a later step.

Click Edit next to the approval stage.
Click Next on the page to enter the Name and Description.

On the page to Specify the criteria of the Step:
Find the field "Enter this step if the next ...".
After "something else", select the desired value.
Click Next.

On the page for Select Assigned Approver:
Select the desired behavior for the Rejection.
Click on Save
