Khalid123 Amount field population
Hi I'm kinda new and was wondering how to do the following:
I have the following Opportunity fields:
services
maintenance
passthrough
and contract value which is a sum of the fields above.
The opportunity amount value is now always 0 because it's not used for the reason above. For forecasting reasons etc. I would like to populate the amount field from other custom fields. Any idea how to do that?
bmontgomeryHow about a workflow rule that performs a field update? Whenever the contract value is updated the workflow rule could update the opportunity amount field.
Scenic SunriseWe have done the same thing. We created different fields in Opportunities that collect various data points. We created separate calculation field in Opportunities to gather and calculate an Amount from these various factors. Then a workflow rule copies that calculated amount field and pastes it into the Opportunity Amount field, which enables forecasting and gaining the roll up values of all these factors that influence the Amount.
