Update Account upon Written Opportunity

Currently, when an opportunity is written, the agent has to go back into the Account object and change the Account Type from Prospect to Insured.

Is there a way to automate this update of the account type when the Opportunity status changes to written.

Is there a way to create a button, that when pressed, will update the Account Type.

The former is probably the better option, and it can be fairly easily done with an Apex trigger on after update of Opportunity.
