run report on blank date fields

I'm trying to run a custom report that focuses on a date field that currently has no value associated with it.  My ideal situation would be to be able to run a report where date equals <blank> but I can't seem to get that to work.  Any ideas?

You've got the right idea.  There are 2 filter areas on date -- the Standard Filters section and the Criteria section.  You have to make sure the Standard Filters section at the top is blank (and set to All Objects) and that you're comparing your date field to blank in the _Criteria_ section, like this:
