Populating a Multi-Select Picklist using Workflow Rules

Is there a way to populate a multiselect pick list via workflow rules.  If it was a text field I would be able to say if record type = x then populate field with y.

If not does anyone know an alternative method of accomplishing the same thing.

Hey David,

You can update a multiselect picklist as well but you can only add one value and not many. This would be done like a regural field update with owrkflows.

When I go into the field update part of the workflow rule the multi select pick list field does not appear in the "Field To Update" dropdown.  What needs to be done to make it appear?

Thank you,

David

Did anyone get back to you or did you find a solution?

ugh, this is something that has just reared its ugly head for me too.

How do we update a multi-select picklist - via workflow - where another value is added to the value ALREADY  CHOSEN in the picklist?

ie

Metrics (multi-select picklist) = Insertion order Signed

I want to update Metrics so that it now reads "Insertion order Signed; Sales - Sold"

Is it possible?

Thanks.

What is the best workaround for this problem?
