Getting all custom fields, formulas, objects, etc. from a SFDC instance

What is the easiest way to generate documentation of all SFDC customizations (custom objects, custom fields for standard objects, triggers, validation rules, formulas) of a SFDC instance?

What do you mean generate documentation? You can download the last 6 months of changes you've made via Setup, or you can use the Force.com IDE to create a project and download all changes made via the Metadata API.
