Validation & workflow rules

can any one tel me how to write an Validation rules and workflow rules

for an Date field once saved should not change,if any changes it should not be same date or lesser than that.And alsowant to send an email alert to admin user 5  days prior to the Date mentioned in the above Date Field.

create a workflow rule as

 

Date field greater than or equal to that date and in the actions create a time dependent workflow 5  days prior to the Date mentioned in the above Date Field, hope it works....
