Regarding Governor limits

Hi,

Pls tell why Governor limits are in salesforce.

I know Governor limits are run time limits enforced by the Apex run time engine & there are lots of Governor limits are in salesforc.

Question is what is the purpose of governor limits and why governor limit comes into the picture in SFDC.

Thanks & Regards,

SS

Hi,

Because Apex runs in a multitenant environment means that all users share the same physical instance
and version of any application that runs on it. Multitenant applications are designed so that any upgrades to the platform or the apps it supports happen automatically for all users at once. The Apex runtime engine strictly enforces a number of limits to ensure that runaway scripts do not monopolize shared resources.
