Production To production Deployment

Hi,

I just want suggestions on the following things regarding the deployments from one production org to another production.

1) What would be the better way to do prod -prod  deployment ..change sets? packages? IDE? to handle the metadata,profiles and other components....

2) what are the best practices?

The Salesforce migration toolkit is probably your best bet. You can get the official SF docs at ANT Migration Tool.
