Opening PDF attachments using Internet Explorer

My users have reported that they are unable to open PDFs that are attached to emails coming in via Email2Case.  They are required to download/save the files before viewing.  DOCs will open just fine directly from the SFDC link.  Why is IE treating PDF differently?  I have tested the same thing in Firefox and have no issues viewing PDFs or DOC.

This can happen for the following reasons:

 

  • If Acrobat or Reader can't read the PDF file
  • If the web browser isn't configured correctly with the Adobe PDF Browser plug-in
  • If the web server on which the PDF file is stored can't serve the PDF file

Try these first:

 

  • Install the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader in your system.
  • Delete Temporary internet files.
  • Try to download PDF file again.
