Trnaslation Workbecnch is what I can suggest as I have worked in 3 different Applications and know many other Applications as well which are using Trnaslation Workbecnch.

Yes just use custom label instead of putting hard coded text in value of output label. You can translate your custom label to another language then it will show you text in that language.Even it gives you facility to do english to english translation also , so in case on any org client want some other text for your output label you can modify it using english to english translation.
