how to add records

is there any way to add new records in an object without creating a custom tab for that object?

Hi,

 

You can use the data loader tool provided by the salesforce or use import wizard to insert the records.

you can use HTML links to call the objects record creation page. for example you can create a link on the left side bar which will call /500/e to create a new case record.
