Chatter Recreation

Hi, Could you please throw some idea on this?

Is it possible to create an application in salesforce similar to Chatter functionality?

 

Can you provide few points related to approach and difficulties in achieving this?

Creation of complete custom chatter functionality will be very cumbersome and complex project. Why don't you use chatter instead? As there is no additional cost associated with using chatter.

Hi,Thanks for your response. 

Here, the client has suggested to replicate the chatter functionality (currently not ready to customize chatter) as a one line requirement. 

But we hardly finding information on it to explain to cleint as it is very complex.

It would be helpful if you could provide some information about the complexity involves on this.

Hi, That is not for recreating the chatter application but the functioanlity under the "Chattter Tab". I apologize for given my query incorrectly.
