Render pagelayout as PDF

Hello All,

We would like to render Account page (default pagelayout, not VF page) as  PDF. I searched in the discussion board, but wasn't able to find anything. Any ideas would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

You could print the page to a pdf (see NitroPDF, for example). To render the page as PDF natively in salesforce.com, you'd be required to use Visualforce.

Thanks SfdcFox for that info. Is there an easy way to show the information on VF page same as the page layout? Or do I have to write a complete page detailing out each and every field? We have this requirement for many objects and each of them has several page layouts with different fields and the number of fields for some of the objects is huge. It would be huge effort just to do that.

One of the requirement is that on clicking a custom button the information on the page layout is emailed as a pdf to the email of the primary contact. Any suggestions?

What a crappy situation!! I wonder why Salesforce doesn't provide this seemingly simple solution?

Once more thanks for your help.
